November 7, 2010 at 11:32 AM

Spreadtweet is a great app which provides a unique and original way to use Twitter, disguising it as a common spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel. So if you are trying to hide your Twitter activity from co-workers, this is the perfect application for you.

"So, you work at a big corporate, huh? And you’re not allowed to use Twitter… Wouldn’t it be awesome if there were a Twitter tool that looked just like Excel?" This is what @elliottkember says to all those Twitter users that are afraid to open a browser or any Twitter application related in their offices.

Spreadtweet, an Adobe AIR app, offers three different types of user interface: Office OSX, Office 2003 and Office 2007.

Design your Facebook Page for Free
November 7, 2010 at 5:43 AM

Pagemodo's Page Builder is a free service to design Facebook pages in a very professional way. The interesting thing about it is that we don't need any knowledge about programming or design.

Social Media business changed significantly with the growth of Facebook, forcing companies to use this social network to extend their business. And if we want to get Facebook's users attention we will need something more than just a simple page of our company and/or startup.

Pagemodo provides a simple way to accomplish this by giving us all the necessary tools, with an easy method to embed images and instant publication. The site also includes paid versions (starting from $9 per month) with the possibilities to embed video, live support and with the feature of Google Analytics to be included soon.

Amazing Hand Crafted Wooden Vespa
November 5, 2010 at 11:11 AM

For me there is nothing better than an old school Vespa. Portuguese carpenter Carlos Alberto built this amazing wooden Vespa himself and called it Daniela after his daughter. As you can see from the body work he must have spent a huge amount of time on the Vespa. The Vespa itself is made of laminated hardwood with a steam-bent wooden spine.

Where can I buy me one of these?

Windows Phone 7 Applications are Easier to Develop Than Android Applications: Stated Michael Dell
November 4, 2010 at 3:52 PM

While speaking at an event in Hong Kong, Michael Dell also said that he had received feedback from developers that it was easier to develop smartphone software using Microsoft's Windows operating system than Google's popular free Android system.

Lots of developers are probably saying to themselves that Mr. Dell is just stating the obvious. The fragmented Android platform is proving to be very difficult for developers.

Manufacturers need to meet Windows Phone 7 minimum hardware specifications, so this means if developers develop their application to run on those minimum specs, then it will run on every Windows Phone 7 device.

T-Mobile Partners With Qik to Power Their Video Chat Service
November 4, 2010 at 5:53 AM

Qik has just partnered with T-Mobile to help power their upcoming video chat service. The integrated video chat service, which will be available on the upcoming myTouch 4G handset. The T-Mobile video chat will allow users not only to conduct live two-way video conversations from their mobile device, but also will allow users to leave video messages.

Press Release:

First to Offer Native Android Address Book Integration with Video Chat including Presence, and Industry-Leading Performance through Deep Hardware Integration

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Nov. 3, 2010 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Qik and T-Mobile USA, Inc. today announced details of the next generation live video communications, sharing and messaging service to be available to consumers across with the U.S. through the upcoming availability of the T-Mobile® myTouch® 4G.  The integrated T-Mobile Video Chat powered by Qik will be the first to offer integration into the native Android™ address book with the benefit of indicating live presence allowing customers to connect with friends and family through live video conversations and video messaging over T-Mobile's network and Wi-Fi.

The deployment of new higher speed networks, like T-Mobile's 4G mobile broadband network, together with the introduction of devices like the new T-Mobile myTouch with 1GHz CPU and 720p video capability, now makes possible a new social video experience providing consumers with new ways to communicate and share using video with their friends, family, and through social networks.

T-Mobile Video Chat powered by Qik offers dramatically improved video quality and frame rates compared to other video calling solutions on the marketplace through deep hardware integration.  Further, this is the first video communications service that is integrated directly into the native Android address book including live presence indication.  From the device address book, users can view if their contacts are available to engage in a live video session, and can directly initiate a session from the native device user interface.

Unlike existing video calling solutions, T-Mobile Video Chat powered by Qik allows users not only to conduct live two-way video conversations from their mobile device, but also allows users to leave video messages.  Similar to leaving a voice message when a recipient is not available for a voice call, users are demanding the ability to leave video messages when they attempt to share an irreproducible moment with their friend or family member.

The service also allows friends and family members to receive video messages on over 200 supported phone models, and also allows users to share moments through social networks, to stream live to the web, and to archive their important memories through a dedicated video management site at www.qik.com.

"Qik is proud to bring this game-changing new service to market specifically for T-Mobile customers," said Vijay Tella, CEO of Qik. "We have answered the need for both live and asynchronous capabilities, which is the hallmark of any complete consumer video communications service, and we have done it at a level of quality and performance that simply needs to be experienced to believe."

"T-Mobile Video Chat powered by Qik is the ideal showcase for the capabilities of our network and is an example of our focus on providing innovative new solutions to enrich the lives of our customers," said Andrew Sherrard, vice president, product management, T-Mobile USA.

More information on Qik can be found at www.qik.com or www.qik.com/blog. For press inquiries please email press@qik.com or call +1-650-279-8619.

Google Chrome 9 Is Now Available to Download for Developers
November 3, 2010 at 7:38 PM

It seems like a new version of Google Chrome is being released every week. Now, you can download Google Chrome 9 via the Dev channel.

Here's what you need to know about the Dev channel release:

This developer preview channel is where ideas get tested (and sometimes fail). The Dev channel can be very unstable at times, and new features usually require some manual configuration to be enabled. Still, simply using Dev channel releases is an easy (practically zero-effort) way for anyone to help improve Google Chrome.

Google Chrome 9 isnt really stable at the moment, so make sure you use it to fun and dont get upset if it doesnt work perfectly!

Real Weather Girls: iPhone App That Combines The Weather With Sexy Women in a Reality Show
November 3, 2010 at 5:52 PM

Meet the “Real Weather Girls“, it seems to be a weird mix between reality tv and a weather application.

The iPhone application follows 12 women in 12 cities around the world (but mainly just the USA!). Once you login to the iPhone application you will be able to search for the weather near you or in any town around the world. However, the Real Weather Girls also has the 12 girls producing daily videos about what they do in their day to day lives. This application kind of reminds me about a new tv show called 7 days here in the UK.

Anyways, the app has a very interesting concept and it will be interesting to see if it takes off. Im not exactly too sure how these girls or the developer is currently making money from the project (apart from the fact the iPhone app will be $2.99).

The app, available on both the iPhone and the iPad, is normally $2.99 but is currently on sale for free in the iTunes store.

p.s. Camilla is the “Weather Girl” based in London, who should definitely take a trip to Cornwall and visit our office!

How to Jailbreak iOS 4.2 on iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G and iPod Touch
November 3, 2010 at 1:22 PM

Apple has just seeded the final iOS 4.2 release to developers. This now means that the Redsnow team has been frantically sorting out their latest release. Redsnow 0.9.6b2 is out and it can now jailbreak all of the current iOS devices on iOS 4.2.

Today Apple released to developers the GM seed for 4.2.  Tinkerers will find that yesterday's redsn0w jailbreaks today's 4.2 GM seed, simply by pointing redsn0w at the 4.1 IPSW (rather than the 4.2 one).  Right now it mostly only makes sense for JB app developers to do that because many apps (including Cydia itself) need to be updated for 4.2.  However, if all you want to do is enable afc2 (to use iFunBox or other file browsers), or to tweak settings like Battery % and Homescreen wallpapers, then go for it (if you have valid paid access to the GM seed).  Be sure to uncheck the Cydia box, though!  Ultrasn0w unlockers should stay very far away from this!!

This means that Redsnow 0.9.6b2 supports the:

  • iPhone 4
  • iPhone 3GS
  • iPhone 3G
  • iPad
  • iPod touch 4G / 3G / 2G

We are pleased to let you know that we are preparing to increase the length of music previews from 30 seconds to 90 seconds on the iTunes Store in the United States. We believe that giving potential customers more time to listen to your music will lead to more purchases.
